Department of History

History is a science that examines in the context of causality the events that were caused by human societies in the past, by indicating place and time. Based on this definition, it would be more accurate to state that History is not only about wars, political events, their chronology etc., but it is a science that covers everything that relates to humans and their actions. History is a science that requires the analysis of the relation of these concepts with an inter-disciplinary approach from the perspective of cause and effect.

Our civilization, which is one of the very few civilizations that have survived from the beginning of history to the present day, and which has contributed to the shaping of today's civilization, offers to us, as historians, many topics that must be researched. As our history is studied and made known, we shall be able to increase our resolution and determination in tackling the uncertainties caused by today's world, by getting strength from what we have achieved in the past; and on the other hand, we shall be able to find better approaches under the guidance and illumination of the historical perspective we have acquired.

At Dogus University Department of History, our curriculum is based on bringing up students who can, based on scientific principles, research and study our history in addition to the major civilizations that make up the world history, and in this context who can use historical resources to conduct research in the field of history at the undergraduate level.
